A collaboration between Italian design house Ghia and German coachbuilder Karmann, these cars may stand out for their glamorous, svelte proportions - but underneath, there's a familiar set of mechanics taken from the ever-utilitarian, ever-trusty Volkswagen Beetle. Beautiful looks and trusty internals - it's a winning formula. This 1971 example has benefited from considerable investment over the years. Restored and modified in 2004, with photographic evidence documenting the process, it was subsequently lowered and fitted with a manual gearbox. The engine was rebuilt in 2020 during the current owner's stewardship, and further restoration work was undertaken in 2023. Recently serviced with wiring work carried out and a new battery fitted, the vendor reports it starts and drives well, with the reconditioned engine feeling strong.
